I am the product of a Garifuna union,
The seed of a strong Garifuna Man.
I was brought into this world,
Through the body of a beautiful Garifuna woman.
I am a Garifuna Child!
In me, my parents would instill
Generations of traditions and beliefs.
I am a Garifuna Child!
My mother will pass on to me,
The tongue of our Arawak mothers.
My father will pass on to me,
The strength and pride of our great warrior ancestors.
Our culture and heritage will forever be preserved within me.
I, a Garifuna Child one day, will grow up
And have a child of my own!
Like many generations before,
I will immerse my child with all that my parents have taught me.
They will be the Garifuna future.
All that is Garifuna will live on within them!
