This passed Sunday April 25, a fundraiser was done in Los Angeles, California, by Garinet and the organization Garinagu Empowerment Movement (GEM). The fundraiser took place in the Black and White club located on Western and 120th ST.
The main purpose of this activity was to raise funds for the family of Jimmy Suazo, who passed away in a tragic automobile accident in Honduras on April 18. As you may already know, Jimmy was a very young (31), Garifuna artist, who inspired his fans with positive messages through his music.
Garinet & GEM would like to thank the owners of the Black & White club for lending their location, the Punta Cartel band, Nuru and his new band, Mirna Gutierrez, Wagiameme Performing Troupe and many more for their collaboration.
The collected funds will be sent to the Suazo’ family this coming Tuesday and more efforts will take place to help in this great cause in the near future. We will keep you informed as we receive more information.
